Whitby Seafoods deal to acquisition called in by the UK competition
Whitby Seafoods deal to acquire Kilhorne Bay Seafoods is called in by the UK competition watchdog.
Whitby Seafoods announced their plan to acquire Kilhorne Bay Seafoods this month. Whitby Seafoods is a family-owned scampi business that is based in Whitby in the North of England.
The acquisition is now being investigated by the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA).
Whitby Seafoods have been trading since 1985. They are a true family-owned business with father, daughter and sons all working there. Whitby foods supplies into the likes of Sainsbury’s, Tesco, Morrisons, Asda, and Farmfoods to name but a few. They produce Scampi, fish Goujons and also Calamari to the retailers.
Kilhorne Bay Seafoods were started in 1969 and are based in Annalong close to Kilkeel, Ardglass, and Portavogle. They produce Scampi and Scallops to catering, wholesale and retails throughout Ireland and the UK.
