Sara Hollis joined Focus over 5 years ago as a Recruitment Co-Ordinator during those five years Sara has learnt a lot about the food industry and recruitment. This has spurred her passion in food and understanding the industry further. As a true foodie she has loved getting to know how the food industry works and understanding the processes that are required for products to make it onto our supermarket shelves. Sara loves trying all the new food trends including more recently vegan food products, she is looking forward to the next trends that are currently on the horizon.
As Sara had worked in the business for five years she felt that she needed a challenge and decided that this exciting Junior Recruitment Consultant role was just the position that delivers it. She loves working for Focus and was glad that this position presented itself. She has seen Focus change a lot throughout her time here – there is a lot more flexibility with working, we are now Employee Owned which means that we all have more impact on the direction of the business and it remains an extremely supportive environment. The main reason Sara decided to make this move is the supportive environment and the full training and mentoring scheme that is provided.
Her focus is now on learning the recruitment piece expanding to her knowledge of the food industry. She is looking forward to getting to grips with this new role. Sara will be working on Junior HR, Supply Chain, and HSE positions which will mean she will get to work across food manufacturing, retail, and foodservice environments which will increase her knowledge of all those functions and structures within the industry. Although Sara is very familiar with the food industry seeing it from a Junior Recruitment Consultants point of view is certainly different. She is looking forward to developing in this role through working closely with her mentor Nicole and her other supportive colleagues.
Nicole has worked within Focus since 2004. Where she started as an Administrator in a similar role to the Recruitment Co-ordinator role Sara was in until recently. Nicole will be a great support as she has already made a successful transition and been a Recruitment Consultant within the business since 2006.
With her experience in Graduate, Permanent and now Interim recruitment she certainly has a lot to offer as a mentor. Nicole has worked all functions across all of our clients from startups to large MNCs. Having worked within Graduate recruitment for 8 years she has also aided many candidates to acquire their very first food industry role, so knows what it takes to find potential for the food industry. Since moving to Permanent and then Interim recruitment she has also supported clients filling many jobs from middle management right up to senior appointments.
Nicole brings many skills to the mentorship role including;
- Her vast recruitment experience
- Understanding the transition Sara is making
- 17 years Industry knowledge
- Client and candidate management skills
- Ability to identify what “good” looks like and the best fit for candidates and clients alike
She has already started supporting Sara with Interviewing candidates and taking jobs briefs from clients. In her own words she is looking forward to being a sounding board for Sara and supporting her to become a successful Recruitment Consultant.
We are glad to be able to support Sara in her career and look forward to seeing her blossom in this new role.
