An interview with Yasmine Baythoon...

What is the earliest ambition you can remember?

Wanting to be an Air Stewardess, but my Dad wouldn’t have any of it and said it was just a glorified waitress. Then I wanted to be a plastic surgeon and make the world a beautiful place, until it came to light that I have a huge fear of needles and blood! 

Did you go to a state or private school? Did you go to University or straight into work?

State (Cheadle Hulme High School/Ridge Danyers Collage) Straight into work, my first job was working at Manchester Airport part time while at College

Who is your idol?

My Dad. He is awesome & my rock, my go to guy for anything and everything. He brought my brother and I up on his own while running a business and going back to university to gain his masters in Maths and Engineering

Who is your mentor?

My current and marvellous new bosses who I am learning an awful lot from J (will this get me brownie points?)

How physically fit are you?

:/ LOL! Erm…..I’m certainly no marathon runner but I can run up the stairs without getting out of breath. 

Which leads to greater success, hard work or ability?

A good mix of the two; you have to be able to do the hard work. 

What is your IQ?

Not a clue but good enough to get me through life. 

Which famous person are you most like?

I would love to say Angelina Jolie, but my friends, family and boyfriend would probably say Helena Bonham Carter – quirky and not afraid to air my opinions. 

If you could see any musician live - whether alive or dead - who would it be?

Ohhh that’s a hard one,……I LOVE music (my nick name is the chair dancer), Elvis would be pretty cool, Otis Reading is one of my favourites. 

Do you consider your carbon footprint?

Not as much as probably I should. 

What was the first car you owned?

An electric blue Vauxhall Corsa (I loved that car!!)

What's your biggest extravagance?

My new car

How politically committed are you?

Pass! I’m not at all politically minded at all, I leave that to my other half

Name one skill you don't possess that you wish you did?

To speak several languages 

If you could have a super power, what would it be?

To read people’s minds, that would be a fabulous power in this industry! 

Do you have more than one home?

No

You're going to be stranded on a desert island and can take only three things with you - what would they be?

Bear Grylls, Mascara and a magic lamp in case Bear doesn’t live up to expectations (you’ve always got to have a back-up plan! Ha)

If you could own one thing that you don't currently possess, what would it be?

Holiday Home on the beach surrounded by palm trees with a private pool & a butler called Jeeves 

What and where is the best restaurant you've ever eaten in?

Selina’s NYC

What keeps you going every day?

My family 

What is your greatest achievement to date?

Being asked to be God Mother to now four children.  

What has been your greatest disappointment?

I do often wonder if I missed out on the Student life/going to University.  

If a movie were made about your life so far, who would take the lead role as you?

I would love to say Julia Roberts but would probably end up with Miss Piggy. 

If someone wrote a biography about you, what would the title be?

It’s good to be a little crazy!

What was the last book you read?

Gone Girl 

What would your 20 year old self say to you now?

Don’t be so mard and have another glass of wine/G&T!                                            

What ambitions do you still have?

To visit Australia/New Zealand & have a family one day. 

If you lost everything tomorrow, what would you do?

Pick myself up and start again, not making the same mistake twice  

If you had to rate your satisfaction with your life so far out of 10, what would your score be?

9/10 everything can always be improved on.
