An interview with Sue...
What is the earliest ambition you can remember?
I was five, just returned from the US and really wanted a Silver Cross doll's pram.
Did you go to a state or private school? Did you go to University or straight into work?
Convent girl (surprisingly!) and then private girls-only school until college and then out into the big bad world.
Who is your idol?
My brother - and that's really true.
Who is your mentor?
Me (I talk to myself a lot) and my Mum who has always given me wonderful advice.
How physically fit are you?
Well, I'm still breathing...
Which leads to greater success, hard work or ability?
Got to have the ability to apply yourself in the first place, and being in the right place at the right time certainly helps, but without hard work no-one gets anywhere.
What is your IQ?
Which famous person are you most like?
Have absolutely no idea and don't really care - which famous person is most like me?
If you could see any musician live - whether alive or dead - who would it be?
Eric Clapton or Peter Green, maybe Jimi Hendrix.
Do you consider your carbon footprint?
What was the first car you owned?
An Anglia Estate which my Dad bought for me when I passed my test in 1969!
What's your biggest extravagance?
My two grand-daughters - who I don't exactly think of as an extravagance, but boy do they cost a lot!
How politically committed are you?
I like to moan a lot, but politicians are a necessary evil I suppose. Wouldn't trust any of them as far as I could throw a baby grand.
Name one skill you don't possess that you wish you did?
To be able to play the piano.
If you could have a super power, what would it be?
All seeing, all knowing (mind you, my kids think I've got this already!)
Do you have more than one home?
Couldn't possibly cope with the housework for more than one house.
You're going to be stranded on a desert island and can take only three things with you - what would they be?
Inexhaustable supply of books, moisturiser and all my photos.
If you could own one thing that you don't currently possess, what would it be?
A Golden Retriever.
What and where is the best restaurant you've ever eaten in?
Had the best steak and chips ever at the Tresanton Hotel in St Mawes. Slightly more exotic was Harry's Bar in Venice.
What keeps you going every day?
I never analyse it, just keep on doing it and tunnel vision.
What is your greatest achievement to date?
Two sons, one of which in his turn, produced two beautiful daughters.
What has been your greatest disappointment?
Not to have had a daughter - who's going to look after me in my dotage?
If a movie were made about your life so far, who would take the lead role as you?
Definitely Meryl Streep.
If someone wrote a biography about you, what would the title be?
You must be Joking!
What was the last book you read?
Head Hunter by Jo Nesbo.
What would your 20 year old self say to you now?
How can you not be going out having fun at least five nights a week and why are you wearing flat shoes?
What ambitions do you still have?
As long as I've got all my marbles, to live until a ripe old age and see my little ones happily married maybe with their own children.
If you lost everything tomorrow, what would you do?
Start again of course - is there any other answer?
If you had to rate your satisfaction with your life so far out of 10, what would your score be?
Daft question really as this figure would change day by day - today, 6/10.
