Details about their background.....
An interview with Amy...
What is the earliest ambition you can remember?
When I was young I would always keep really detailed travel diaries. Seeing the world was and is something I love to do.
Did you go to a state or private school? Did you go to University or straight into work?
I went to a state school and then to Manchester University to study Tourism Management. I interviewed for my first job in the middle of my final exams, I got the job and started the following week. Some of my friends took a gap year, I had a ‘gap weekend’!
Who is your idol?
My grandad, a very wise and inspirational man
Who is your mentor?
Can I have more than one? My parents, my Fiancé and my bosses, I learn a lot from all of them.
How physically fit are you?
So, so. I don’t enjoy exercising as such but I love walking and cycling so at least once a week I tend to do a 10 mile walk or a longer bike ride. I am starting a new routine though now that I have booked my wedding for next year!
Which leads to greater success, hard work or ability?
Hard work 100%. My approach to tasks or challenges in life, is that if I don’t know how to do something I will take the time to learn it and to become good at it. The more you put into something the more you get out of it.
What is your IQ?
I'm sure mine fluctuates depending on the subject! I am an expert at some things and clueless about others!
Which famous person are you most like?
No one, I am unique!
If you could see any musician live - whether alive or dead - who would it be?
Freddie Mercury or Michael Jackson
Do you consider your carbon footprint?
I am mindful of it
What was the first car you owned?
A little Ford KA
What's your biggest extravagance?
My first home, not just buying it but kitting it out with everything we need and want.
How politically committed are you?
Not massively, I don’t trust any of them!
Name one skill you don't possess that you wish you did?
I wish I could speak a language, I have family in Portugal and a Brazilian side of the family too, so I definitely want to learn Portuguese.
If you could have a super power, what would it be?
I would love to be able to fly, travel is my biggest passion so I would be able to explore everywhere I want to more quickly.
Do you have more than one home?
No, I have just bought my first home but I plan to own more!
You're going to be stranded on a desert island and can take only three things with you - what would they be?
I love my comforts so I would say a bed, hamper full of my favourite foods and an ice box of G&T’s! I would be very happy for a week or two!
If you could own one thing that you don't currently possess, what would it be?
A restaurant in the sun
What and where is the best restaurant you've ever eaten in?
A little family run restaurant in Reykjavik, it was 10 courses of local food with a story behind each one, each course was paired with a local wine or beer. Fantastic food but also a great experience.
What keeps you going every day?
Always keeping focused on my goals
What is your greatest achievement to date?
Buying my first home with my Fiancé, we were very lucky in finding the perfect house that ticked even more boxes than we thought we would be able to for our first home.
What has been your greatest disappointment?
Life is full of highs and lows; I have learnt that things that may seem disappointing at the time tend to turn out for the best overall. I was disappointed when we lost out on a house we were very interested in but now I am very glad we did as ours is even better
If a movie were made about your life so far, who would take the lead role as you?
My close friends and family say I am funny, so an actress who is good at injecting a bit of comedy!
If someone wrote a biography about you, what would the title be?
On to the next adventure!
What was the last book you read?
The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini
What would your 20 year old self say to you now?
Well done… keep working hard, keep hold of your values and surround yourself with people who have your best interests at heart
What ambitions do you still have?
Absolutely loads, I want to own and run a restaurant somewhere in the sun with my husband to be, he is an incredible cook and I enjoy front of house. I have a lot of travel plans, I want to own a holiday home or second home to rent out. I could go on…
If you lost everything tomorrow, what would you do?
Pack a bag and travel around everywhere that is still on my list of places I want to see, I would stay for a few weeks or months in my favourite places along the way and work in bars to fund it
If you had to rate your satisfaction with your life so far out of 10, what would your score be?
9 – I am very happy at this point of my life, when I have a puppy and children I will change this to 10 ☺
