Over the last two months Focus Management have been fundraising for an amazing local charity called Hampers of Hope. On the 11th December we hand delivered them a cheque for the money we had spent so long raising.
From Dress down days at work to cake baking and pet of the month picture we managed to raise £175. Which in itself surpassed our target of £100. To top it off Focus Management has matched the amount raised by it’s staff to allow us to donate a massive £350 for the Christmas collection done by Hampers of Hope.
First two pictures are of the smaller lock up that they use for all the Christmas food
We then had chance to speak to Cristel and Anne about the rest of the charities activities. Not only do they feed families over Christmas but they also feed them all year round. The larger storage is for all the year round.
I have to say it was a very humbling meeting – to find out what this charity does for our local communities and to understand that 50% of the people they feed are children really hit home! To think that some of the families in our local community are struggling to feed their children not just at Christmas but also all year round was a tough thought to come to terms with.
As we were meeting with Cristel and Anne we were discussing how it all started and that the charity even brings food hampers to residents in Bollington and Wilmslow, where some of our staff live.
To be standing there while Cristel was getting messages asking for help was difficult but also made us feel like we were starting to make a difference to those around us. Even if it is a small difference it all helps.
There are lots of charities out there that are very worthy causes but this one certainly touched my heart and the hearts of those I work with.
They surprised us with a lovely certificate to say thanks. We donated £350 to them and although it will not cure the issue we hope it will help.
We also learned of the job club they run which helps get unemployed people back into work. That was also interesting to hear about as we did not expect that.
So a super big THANK YOU to everyone at Focus Management who contributed, whether that was baking, cooking, dressing down, entering pet or baby pictures and most of all donating the £175 which our company so amazingly matched. It was certainly a touching experience – They are packing hampers for those in need on the 18th --- Are you around to help pack hampers? Even an hour of your time will help get the job done quicker and the food out to the people faster….
