In recent years, food sales have grown consistently and outperformed the sales in general merchandise.  The business is further expanding international operations and rapidly opening more Simply Food stores in the UK.

Marks & Spencer is seen as the best retailer in the world for food quality.  It regularly brings the latest products to the high street ahead of other food retailers.

Typical roles within the Food division include Product Developer, Food Technologist and Buyer.

As Product Developer at M&S you must have a genuine passion for food and unquestionable knowledge of it.  To succeed in this role, you need to be ahead of the latest food trends, be highly creative with a positive attitude.  Working within your product category, you will manage a range of new product development (NPD) projects to deliver the latest products to the shelves.  You will need to be persuasive with bags of charisma, organisational skills and resilience.  This is a truly exciting role working with some of the best talent in NPD.

Buyer’s at M&S need to be commercially astute with the ability to forge strong, collaborative relationships with suppliers.  You will work closely across the business with developers and technologists within your product category as well as the teams responsible for product ranging, space planning, marketing and supply chain.  To succeed in this role you will need excellent negotiation skills and the ability to work on long-term strategic plans to achieve targets.  You will be highly organised, structured and analytical.
