More than 500 Greencore workers have voted to strike due to their unhappiness around their hourly pay (£10.53). The strike currently stands to take place between September 11th and October 9th. Greencore is a major sandwich maker in the UK and supplies major retailers and high street chains, such as Starbucks and Boots, with their food to go sections. This planned strike is no doubt going to cause disruption in the retailers food to go sections.
This strike could certainly see a shortage of sandwiches across the UK. The workers are part of Unite union and they are stating that the low pay is pushing the workers into poverty.
There is still a chance this strike could be called off if there is an improved offer from Greencore on pay.
