When your experience and knowledge tell you that changes and improvements are needed, all too often in large organisations it can feel like pushing water uphill. Here you’ll have the ear of the MD, who this role reports to. He welcomes proactivity and will respect your strategic and operational input.

This SME business has grown organically, built on strong customer partnerships driven by innovation and NPD. A realistic five-year growth plan will see the business double and as a key member of the site leadership you’ll play an intrinsic part.

Commitment to that expansion has already started, with hiring activity focussed across Technical, Operations, Process, and NPD.

The category is desserts, frozen and chilled, aimed at the mid to high-end consumer. Customers include UK major retailers, foodservice and overseas to Australia, New Zealand and Singapore with US markets about to come on board.

Heading up the Technical team, including Hygiene, you’ll drive technical and food safety standards across the site, always with an eye on Continuous Improvement. In addition to site technical strategy, you’ll be expected to roll your sleeves up operationally, according to fluctuating business needs; from advising NPD with product development, food labelling or plant hygiene programmes, you’ll be happy to ‘do the doing’ if needs be.

Of course, it’s not just about technical ability. Equally important will be an ability to see the bigger picture. Emotionally intelligent and with the ability to spot and develop team talent, will mean you’re an inspirational leader. Encouraging your team to be accountable and proactive will align your thinking with the senior team.
