Our client is a very successful business; one of the key employers within food manufacturing in the UK. For those in the know, this is an excellent company to be a part of - loads of career potential - and working with some of the most highly regarded retailers within the country.
We are recruiting for a Senior Process Development Technologist who has substantial experience within food manufacturing. Ideally short shelf life own label products where you can demonstrate an ability to work at pace and understand the constraints of shelf life.
Due to its innovative, adventurous, creative style, this business is constantly pushing the barriers in terms of new products - ingredients, presentation, etc. As a result, the process team is constantly being challenged with thinking outside of the box and taking the existing lines to new heights.
As well as being a foodie and appreciating the necessity of keeping the original quality of product that was first shown by the concept team, you will also have a love of technical problems.
While some of the development in the factory will be add-ons to existing ranges, there will be the blue sky lines too where creative, strategic approaches are required.
In addition to your technical strengths, you must also be able to get on with people. Most of your success lies with getting everyone on side. It's no good to know how to manufacture a product if no one will cooperate with you. This role is all about negotiation and persuasion. Having the skill of listening means that sometimes people will tell you the answer before you have even begun to formulate the question.
The Process Development team are experts in their field and they are also experts at speaking to people who very often know the potential within the factory better than they do. The trick of a successful Process Development person is to use every contact that they have and use everyone's skill to make things happen in the most effective way.
