This major food manufacturing business is looking to add a Planning and Logistics Manager to its Shropshire manufacturing site.

Job Description

With manufacturing sites throughout the UK and Europe this is a food group in which you could truly develop your career. The site has recently had investment in new technology having brought in new products from a sister site in Europe. It is a major focus for the group and part of the fastest growing division in the company. At this particular site the company is producing a range of products for the foodservice sector.

The role of Planning and Logistics Manager reports to the Factory Manager and manages a team of four direct reports in Planning and Warehousing. Operating as part of the Senior Management Team the purpose of this role is managing all incoming and outgoing logistic services and delivering the weekly planning/scheduling process.

Working with the Planning team you will optimise the production plan to deliver on OEE and factory costs and achieve customer service level targets. You will manage the sites logistic services, covering everything from raw materials into the site through to dispatch of finished products.

Other areas of responsibility:

  • Budget control and stock management
  • Site lead for SAP
  • Ingredients and packaging stores
  • Management of indirect services
  • Coaching and developing teams
  • Continuous improvement of all processes

For this role we are looking for someone who is educated to degree level, or equivalent, and has previous experience in the food industry. You will be an effective leader with excellent planning and organisational skills. Analytic skills with problem solving ability are also important. You will have good commercial acumen and be able to make decisions quickly. An understanding of food safety and quality management would also be beneficial.
