Start date: Asap
Salary: £45,000 - £50,000 GBP per annum
As this is a new role you will help create and shape the SHE strategy for this successful, category leading site.
Although this is an award-winning site, the business isn't about to rest on its laurels and is continually chasing improvement. This SHE Manager opportunity will therefore allow someone to go in and make changes in a supportive environment that has some truly great qualities. As part of a larger group you will have the option of progressing through site or group based roles or operating centrally, or alternatively trying all options.
This role sits within a company that is large, growing, profitable and ultimately successful so they could be forgiven for thinking "if it isn't broken, don't fix it". However, that is not the mind-set of this business and although they have a happy and engaged customer, they are keen to continue to develop themselves and this partnership.
Therefore they have created this H&S Manager role to work closely with the operations teams to improve the solid foundations already in place. Although there are recognised pockets of good practice within the business, they are looking for someone to really formalise this system and ensure efficiencies are driven throughout the business.
Therefore, this is a fantastic opportunity for you to come into a supportive business that is open to change and lay the groundwork for a successful SHE set up. As the site SHE Manager you will be responsible for the compilation and implementation of a SHE strategy for the site and the continued maintenance of the SHE management system. You will ensure that environmental and personal accidents are investigated, recorded, reported correctly and identify and recommend improved practices to reduce accidents. You will ensure that all communication with enforcement authorities are reported appropriately and keep the business informed of any legislation changes, ensuring conformity through identifying gaps and implementing changes.
You will ideally have Diploma level NEBOSH H&S and Environmental qualification or recognised similar qualification. The ability to communicate across all levels of the business is essential as is a demonstrable compliance to legislation. The successful candidate will be a natural leader, with strong problem solving skills, able to influence a team to develop a strong safety and environment culture.
You will be working for a market leading food manufacturer with multiple sites throughout the U.K. They are suppliers to the leading food retailers and have a reputation for innovation and customer focus. As such they have an excellent working environment with a committed workforce.
