Then reading about this job is worth two minutes of your time. I do start with a small apology; this is actually an industry leading client - however this claim can be backed up by facts (category leading in 75% of the products they make) rather than vague or misleading statements we see in most ads.

What makes this job better?

That will depend on your definition of better. If working in a comfortable, slow-paced, high-rise office is what you are after, this isn't for you.

If your definition of better involves being exposed to a manufacturing environment of just under 1,000 employees, where you will have plenty of autonomy in a fast-moving environment this could be for you. The days will fly by as you are kept busy seamlessly transferring from managing complex ER cases, high level discussions with unions, to recruitment (across multiple levels and disciplines) to helping set the HR plan. Basically, if you get bored easily and a nice view from said high-rise doesn't fulfil your sense of professional achievement, you should seriously consider this role.

So, if you have got this far, the role should appeal - what about the company? Skipping past the industry leading cliché, this business fills over 50% of its roles with its own internal employees and has a genuine commitment to Training and Development (they have just recruited a whole new department to focus on this area). Therefore, you should see this position as the stepping stone to HR Management.

Due to the nature of the business, you will need to have a background in a fast-paced generalist HR environment. Over and above this maybe a CIPD qualification (although they may help with this) but the key skill is someone who likes to be kept busy and make things happen.
