Development Technologist, Hampshire
County / State: Hampshire
Category: New Product Development
Consultant: Zoe Gmaj
Start date: Asap
Salary: £20,000 - £28,000 per annum
Dynamic, flexible individual with food product development experience needed to join a growing food company on the south coast.
We are looking for a Product Development Technologist to work with a highly successful and growing food business in Hampshire. This isn't your usual product development role, this role will see you working with manufacturing partners in Europe translating customer briefs and expectations and turning new products into a reality for the UK retail market. With many of the facilities in Eastern Europe it is essential you are happy to travel and stay away a couple of times a month, and can be flexible to travel both UK and European wide.
The client have continued to grow and will be moving into a brand new building in 2018 - so this is an exciting time to join! Having doubled in size over the last four years they now turn over in excess of €100,000. They are keen to continue this and with new contracts and customer pipelines there is a real opportunity to be part of this success.
The UK team is a small and dynamic, comprising around six employees. Based at site on the South Coast they have a a Chef and Commercial team. Your will report to an NPD Manager who is based remotely but travels regularly to site and manufacturing facilities. The NPD Manager and wider team will be able to give you full support and guidance, immersing you in the business and the unique culture and ways of working. You will be customer-facing and have real opportunity to progress your role within the business.
We are not looking for someone with a wealth of experience, what we would like to find is a passionate, energetic individual who can build relationships with manufacturers and can influence manufacturing teams to drive NPD for the UK market. Although we need someone with an understanding of NPD and the product development process it is more important that you can show flexibility and open mindedness to recognise opportunities and capitalise on these.
Responsibilities will include:
Face to face customer meetings with major UK retailers to take briefs and advise on market and development capabilities
Management of concept to launch
Travel to European manufacturing facilities
Clear communication of product brief to manufacturing partners
NPD documentation and paperwork including contact reports
Working with the Development Chef on concept development
We are seeking someone with some NPD experience, ideally with a Food Technology degree or similar, who is looking to learn and develop further in their career in NPD.
Interviews can take place from the 1st week in January 2018 for the right candidates.
