Opportunities in Employment in PepsiCo

Opportunities in Employment in PepsiCo

PepsiCo Inc. is the brand name for drinks Pepsi, 7Up and other popular soft drinks around the world. However, there are other products, including snack foods. PepsiCo is a relatively young company, especially when compared to the likes of the Coca Cola brand, and it has only been recent that the brand has moved away from Pepsi and onto other named products.

A Brief History of PepsiCo

The PepsiCo brand originally started in 1965 after the Frito-Lay and Peps9-Cola companies joined together. Pepsi has been a major component of the brand’s success, especially in the Middle East where the sales are 75% to Coca Cola’s 25%. Pepsi has been a drink since the 1880s, when it was created by Caleb Bradham, an industrialist and pharmacist. The Pepsi-Cola Company was founded in 1902 and a patent for the recipe registered a year later.

The company went bankrupt in 1931 and was bought out by Charles Guth, the president of leading candy manufacturer, Loft, Incorporated. The syrup was reformulated and marketed using the Loft name. After a lawsuit, Loft won the whole right to the drink and Pepsi Cola Company was rebranded.

In the 1960s, Diet Pepsi was created. This was the first expansion on the drink since first buying out the product. At the same time, Loft gained control of Mountain Dew. By 1965, Pepsi Cola Company joined with Frito-Lay, Inc., which was a corn and potato chip snack maker. The name was rebranded to PepsiCo, Inc. And it has stayed that way since.

Acquisitions and Developments

Knowing that it needed to keep expanding, PepsiCo acquired a number of businesses. Some of these were outside of the beverage and packaged food brands that it had become so well-known for; many of which were sold off or spun into other brands, such as the Tricon Global Restaurants. PepsiCo decided that the food and beverage products were where it should focus and sold off the majority of others, including Pizza Hut, KFC, D’Angelo Sandwich Shops and Taco Bell. Many of these places still stick to selling the Pepsi brand drinks.

PepsiCo also expanded by buying Tropicana and merging with Quaker Oats Company. The Quaker venture led to PepsiCo adding new products automatically, including the Chewy Granola Bars, Aunt Jemima and Gatorade.

PepsiCo created a large number of jobs in Russia after acquiring two-thirds of Wimm-Bill-Dann in 2011 and then the last of the stake later in the same year.

Job Opportunities in PepsiCo

There are regularly jobs available within PepsiCo. Based on revenue, it is the second largest business within the food and beverage industry in the world and the largest in the North American continent. There are jobs available around the world, whether you want a graduate position or looking for something within the managerial sector.
