The Barcode festival has just had its 5th festival. This year the amount raised was £1m for the charity GroceryAid. This charity has been supporting workers within the grocery industry for 166 years!
The event was held in London and sold out with 4,500 people from industry attended, from shop floor to head office stafff. The event was supported by 100 sponsors. There were some great music acts and entertainment. The likes of Fatboy slim, Sugababes and Sam Ryder all performed. As well as start-up and established brands showcasing their products.
GroceryAid is a self funded charity that provides emotional, practical and financial support to Grocery industry workers. They have a 24/7 freephone helpline, online platforms and partner services and run financial grant programmes.
There biggest challenge they are facing is raising awareness so that those that need it can access their help.
This year the festival beat their previous year by £100,000. Hopefully next year they will exceed this years figure of £1m.
