Wholesale is a vital part of the food and drink industry. These are businesses that provide bulk products at a lower cost, due to economies of scale. The contribution of this to the UK food industry is over £31 bn and as a sector employs approximately 90,000 people.
Companies within this sector include Costco, Spar, Bestway wholesale, and Bookers. They supply the likes of schools, prisons, local independent retail shops, and also private healthcare facilities with everything from food, drinks, and household items.
According to fwd.co.uk (the Federation of Wholesale distributors) the general public spend over £48bn on products supplied by the wholesale sector. As a sector wholesalers supply fresh, chilled, frozen and ambient food and drink products as well as household items.
Bestway wholesale is the largest independent food and drink wholesaler in the UK with over 65 warehouses, 70,000 retail customers and an annual turnover of over £2bn.
