The packaging industry has faced many challenges but right now there is a huge drive to ensure that the companies are sustainable, using recyclable materials more and the ability to provide this in a cost-effective way without impacting quality has become paramount to the industry. New innovative packaging ideas and hitting sustainability targets, reducing environmental impact have become much more important in the industry.
There are many UK businesses that supply packaging options into the food industry, including GM packaging, D S Smith, ABC packaging, Tri-Star packaging, and Atlas Packaging. As well as businesses that are global and European companies that have bases in the UK such as Coveris, Mondi, and Huhtamaki. Some of the other big players in the food packaging industry are the likes of Faerch that make ready meal dishes and Smurfit Kappa that produce corrugated packaging.
